How big is the moon?


I came about this thought provoking blog today. It turns out that the moon's surface area is just 20% bigger than Africa's. Or almost five times the continental US.


I also like the Europe vs. US Size Comparison Map on About.com. It shows that France and Iberia are Texas sized, while Holland has about the same size as Maryland.
The state where bigger is better does not live up to its reputation when the height of skyscrapers is used a size comparison. There is a cool interactive skyscraper height comparison tool. Those Texas skyscrapers have a long way to go to the moon.
