The seventies

Greg has had themed Fridays in school for the last couple of weeks. First, everyone dressed up like boys and girls from the fifties. Last week, Greg was wearing Elvis glasses to celebrate the sixties. And this week, it was the seventies' turn. That's my favorite decade. The seventies had everything: the best soccer, glitter rock, disco, and punk rock.

Helicopter

The Guitar Hero line of video games is a wonderful bridge to cross the generation gap. Using a guitar shaped game console controller, you can choose from a wide library of songs. You have to push the green, yellow, red, or green buttons when a correspondingly colored circle flies by. You miss it, and the song hiccups. You miss too many and the crowd starts booing. Fellow band members start turning your back on you.

Sammy's favorite Guitar Hero song is Bloc Party's helicopter:

And that's great. I love Bloc Party too. Even though I prefer watching them on Later with Jools Holland.

The snake

Ina was scared to death today. While walking Carly along the pond down our street, she ran into a snake. A dead one, but a snake nevertheless. And she is very afraid of snakes.

She's happy we did not buy a home that's backing up to a greenbelt. People in such homes find snakes in their backyards all the time. And coyotes and skunks. All we have are frogs. But wait... snakes eat frogs.
