How big is the moon?

I came about this thought provoking blog today. It turns out that the moon's surface area is just 20% bigger than Africa's. Or almost five times the continental US.

I also like the Europe vs. US Size Comparison Map on About.com. It shows that France and Iberia are Texas sized, while Holland has about the same size as Maryland.
The state where bigger is better does not live up to its reputation when the height of skyscrapers is used a size comparison. There is a cool interactive skyscraper height comparison tool. Those Texas skyscrapers have a long way to go to the moon.

Shop Dine Enjoy

Shop Dine Enjoy is the slogan of Downtown McKinney. I think we have just the right pictures for them.
McKinney, for the most part a modern Dallas suburb, actually has an interesting historic downtown. Everything centers arount the restored 1874 Collin County courthouse on the town square. It now houses the McKinney Performing Arts Center. Around it is a collection of quaint antiques and specialty shops, wine locales, and restaurants.
We spent our Sunday afternoon walking around the square, looking for a place to have lunch. We decided on fish and chips in The Londoner.

XLII

The New York Giants won Superbowl XLII tonight. That was a major upset. The Patriots were the favorites after having won all their games this seaon. Maybe it was because of the Giants' two unlikely fans: Peyton Manning, the Indianapolis Colts quarterback, was rooting for his little brother on the field. An Texas' biggest Bengals fan converted to a Giants supporter.
Oh yes, click on Will Ferrell to see the Superbowl ads.
